2017 backpacking

I had the pleasure of traveling to 5 different countries during the summer of 2017. Let me just say that so much has changed since this time. I am much more aware of what food I want to try instead of just finding whatever is convenient. I also did not take as many pictures as I probably should have, but I will post some that I have.

My cousin and I flew across the ocean for 17 days frolicking around the countries. I wouldn’t trade this time for anything. I learned so much and I grew a lot as a person. Here is a breakdown of where we went:

  • Dublin, Ireland

    • We started and ended here because flights were much cheaper

    • Day trips: Guinness Lake, Cliffs of Moher

    • Food and Drink: Guinness Beer

    • Places: Temple Bar

  • London, England

    • Camden Market, Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, and the Fire Memorial

    • Got food poisoning from The Orangery at Kensington Palace

    • Food and Drink: Updated to a new blog since I just went to visit in May 2023

  • Paris, France

    • Took the underground train from London

    • Stayed in a hostel with 6 other girls because it was the most we could afford

    • Tried a croque monsieur then the waitress charged us 30 euros instead of 10

    • Avoided the metro, but took buses

    • Places: Eiffiel Tower, Louvre, Boat Ride on the River, and Notre Dame

  • Barcelona, Spain

    • The hottest stop of all in June 2017

    • Airbnb host warned us of police that would arrest of her if she was caught hosting airbnb guests.

    • no uber

    • get park guell tickets ahead of time

    • LOVED La Sagrada Familia

    • Food and Drink: all the tapas and sangria

  • Lisbon, Portugal

    • Stayed with a generous friend

    • We saw friends and went to the beaches here
