London

You have to spend pounds to gain pounds.
— Merritt Murray

Fun Facts:

  • almost 9 million people

  • 170+ museums

  • over 300 languages spoken

  • Portuguese call it Londres

I went to London for a concert, my favorite band, “The Band Camino”, was playing. We took the opportunity to explore for a few days. For this trip, I had everything planned out. I wanted to visit certain markets and try new foods. Daniel had never visited. We did tons of things included in The London Pass. This helped us navigate some of the attractions and neighborhoods. Below will be everywhere we went in the short 4 days.

In 2019, I was inspired by my friend Joann to really enjoy food and everything about a meal. Ever since then I have been not only been enjoying food more, but also researching which restaurants to try in different places. London has a HUGE food scene. Since there are 9 million people living here, all cuisines are accounted for here.

Sights Seen:

Buckingham Palace

Kensington Palace

Jewel Tower

Hyde Park

Tower Bridge

Cutty Sark

Westminister Abbey

University of Greenwich

Primrose Hill

I am a planner, so I had a list of everywhere and everything I wanted to do. The London Pass was really a great asset for us. We ended up saving money with it, but we had to hustle. With time constraints and closures, we missed a few, but it was helpful overall.

4 days was enough to see a lot and eat even more. But you can easily break the bank with the price of food here. Here is a list of things we ate and ratings:

Food Stops:

  • Flat Iron

    • Flat Iron Steak, Garlic Mash, Fries, and the Ribeye

    • Rating: 7/10

      • Good flavors, but portions for the sides were small

      • FREE ice cream upon departure

  • Nando’s

    • One Chicken with Cole Slaw and Fries

    • Rating 3/10

      • I wanted this to be better than it was, but the chicken was dry, the fries were subpar, and the cole slaw was tasteless

      • Do not @ me for this. Daniel had never been and I wanted him to try it! I have fond memories of Cheeky Nando’s during my time in Wales.

  • Gianni's Cafe

    • Two Breakfast Rolls: Bacon, Cheddar, and Egg

    • Rating: 8/10

      • Quaint shop with friendly service. It got the job done and we both left satisfied

  • Black Pig (Borough Market)

    • Honey Truffle Parm Sandwich

    • Rating: 10/10

      • The perfect amount of cheese to pork ratio. I cannot rave enough about this meal

  • Humble Crumble

    • Mixed Berry with Classic Shortbread and Hot Vanilla Custard

    • Rating: 9/10

      • It was not as sweet as I wanted it to be, however, the quality was phenomenal

  • Jack the Chipper

    • Fish n Chips

    • Rating: 7/10

      • Cod was perfectly cooked, meanwhile I wanted the chips to be more flavorful

  • The Mac Factory

    • “Mambo Italiano” Mac with Bacon, Mushrooms and Garlic

    • Rating: 9/10

      • In every way, yes. For the price we paid, we could have bought all ingredients and a LLC

  • Yorkshire Burrito

    • Regular Burrito

    • Rating: 1/10

      • I WANTED IT TO BE EVERYTHING AND IT WAS NOTHING
